Boston Amazon Web Services Meetup - Thur, 6-8PM

Thank you to jSonar who arranged this Meetup including food/drink and presentation. And thank you to Amazon for hosting in their Boston Seaport office. Date: Thur, Nov 7th, 6-8pm Location: Amazon Web ServicesBoston Seaport27 Melcher St.Boston, MA 02110 Topic: “The Top 5 Security Controls You MUST Have Before Migrating Data-Centric-Workloads into AWS.” RDS, RedShift, DocumentDB, EMR, etc. - AWS has everything you need to migrate your most important assets (your data) to the Cloud and leverage Database as a Service (DBaaS) offerings to speed up delivery timeframes. But there are risks - both on the security side as well as the audit side and it is your responsibility to ensure you have the right controls in place; Amazon will not do it for you. Furthermore, your security team and auditors might "interfere" - you will be ready to go live but they will come in and ask for certain controls that they are used to seeing on-prem. This talk will review the top-5 controls that are a must before migrating high-risk and high-value applications and data into DBaaS stacks and the different ways to implement these controls.
