Getting the most out of DynamoDB secondary indexes - Alex DeBrie

This event is a special treat since we have AWS Data Hero Alex DeBrie talking to us about DynamoDB! Alex is the author of The DynamoDB Book and gave the second-most viewed re:Invent 2019 presentation. We’ll be raffling off a copy of the Premium Package of Alex’s book as well as 2 $25 AWS credit codes! The talk is equally accessible for new users of DynamoDB as well as experts. Alex will start with an intro on the terminology of DynamoDB as well as some basic single-table principles. This will be followed with a deeper discussion on secondary indexes which is described as follows: Amazon DynamoDB is a highly-scalable, serverless-friendly NoSQL database. To use DynamoDB effectively, you will often use secondary indexes to enable additional access patterns on your data. In this talk, you'll learn about DynamoDB and secondary indexes. Then, we'll walk through some strategies for using secondary indexes effectively in DynamoDB. As usual with our virtual meetings, we'll start the social part of the meeting at 5:30 and then have the presentation start around 5:50. Please also join our Boston AWS Meetup Group Slack to help amplify the experience and engagement (and coordinate the logistics issues that sometimes arise). join.slack.com/t/awsbostonmeetup/shared_invite/zt-fkh1tm6a-uKyIp3J_WScO2e9u9y4bIw Looking forward to seeing everyone!-Ken
