This is a two part event, running January 18th and 19th 1:00-4:00pm.

Let your inner mammoth-hunter emerge! Learn to make and use the technology that revolutionized human life. The atlatl, or spear-thrower, is a 10,000-year-old tool developed independently across the globe by cultures from the Arctic to New Zealand. In this two-session workshop, you will fletch and haft a 6' atlatl dart, affix finger loops, and a stone tuning-weight to your own propulsor, and learn to throw your weapon with confidence. A visit to see spear-throwers on display in the Peabody Museum galleries and a special behind-the-scenes tour into the museum’s collections are part of this Neolithic winter experience.

$30 materials fee includes atlatl (thrower) & dart materials. Workshop takes place in the Education Room of the Peabody Museum, 11 Divinity Ave.

Registration closes January 8, 2018.

To register, contact Peabody Reservations: or call 617-495-3216.

Be prepared to leave a name, phone and email contact. Advance payment by credit card required.
