A free conference on Information Architecture (IA) and design with exceptional speakers and a chance to connect with the local UX community.

The IA Element: Elemental connections, elemental understanding

If you're making things for others, you're practicing information architecture. This year's theme, The IA Element, explores how information architecture is elemental to the work we do in design, technology, architecture, and business.

Abby Covert

Staff Information Architect at Etsy and author of How to Make Sense of Any Mess

Abby Covert is a senior staff information architect at Etsy. She specializes in delivering a collaborative information architecture process and teaching those that she works with along the way. She speaks and writes under the pseudonym Abby the IA, focusing on sharing information architecture content with those working within the design and technology communities. She is the author of How to Make Sense of Any Mess, a book about information architecture for everybody.


Heather Hedden

Taxonomist, Hedden Information Management and author of The Accidental Taxonomist

Heather Hedden has been a practicing taxonomist for 24 years, in various organizations and as an independent consultant with Hedden Information Management. She has designed and developed diverse taxonomies for websites, intranets, and content management systems. Heather has worked as a taxonomist in a library database publisher, a search software company, a wind energy company, a knowledge management consultancy, and an educational publisher. In addition to consulting, she provides onsite and online workshops on how to design and build taxonomies. Heather is the author of the book, The Accidental Taxonomist.


Eniola Oluwole

Chief Strategy Officer, Velir

Eniola has over 20+ years of experience in digital strategy, human-centered design, and product creation. Eniola has partnered with organizations across a variety of industries including healthcare, financial services, consumer goods, and B2B technology, by developing their teams to solve experience design and marketing challenges.


Ingrid Pierre

Principal UX Designer, MBTA

Ingrid Pierre is currently the principal UX Designer at the MBTA’s Customer Technology Department, where she leads the design of MBTA.com and of Skate, a digital tool used by field staff for bus dispatching. Having come to the transportation space from Boston-based startups, Ingrid’s work focuses on helping both riders and operational staff manage the complexity of the MBTA’s transit network.

Prior to working at the T, Ingrid graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Visual Studies, and spent her early career designing web and mobile applications centered on women’s health and livelihoods.
