One Day at Bootcamp: Python, focusing on Pandas and SciKit Learn

Fill out the form here: Back by popular demand, Metis San Francisco will be hosting “One Day at Bootcamp” to give you a chance to see what the experience is really like!You’ll receive free, interactive training in Python, focusing on Pandas and SciKit Learn from Metis Senior Data Scientist, Kelly Gola. IMPORTANT NOTE: The curriculum is designed for those familiar with Python data structures, loops, functions, and other common programming requirements. Please register via the form only if you plan to attend - seats are limited and in high demand. Required prerequisites: Familiarity with beginner Python Computer with Anaconda installed Schedule: -10:00 - 10:30 - Setup and Orientation - 10:30 - 11:00 - Intro to Machine Learning - 11:00 - 12:00 - Intro to Pandas - 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch* - 1:00 - 1:20 - Intro to Regression - 1:20 - 3:00 - Predicting House Prices with Regression *Lunch is not provided and it is recommended to bring your lunch After a brief introduction to the concepts of machine learning, we'll dive into a hands-on session with Pandas to wrangle data. After lunch, we'll reconvene and focus on the basic theory of linear regression and how to apply it in a practical way. We'll use a dataset about house prices in Iowa to learn to make useful predictions. About the Metis Instructor Kelly is passionate about breaking complex concepts down to fun, grokable lessons that are accessible to everyone. Kelly comes to Metis from TaskRabbit where she used machine learning models to derive valuable insights about client usage patterns for marketing communications and to build personalized product features. Prior to Taskrabbit, Kelly conducted clinical research at University of California, San Francisco examining neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia patients and has taught courses in statistics, research methods, and neuroscience. She holds a PhD in developmental psychology from University of California, Santa Cruz and is also a Metis alum.
