User experience researchers and designers are uniquely positioned for innovation. With a keen ability to understand a problem and generate solutions, we would expect UX practitioners to be at the forefront of bringing new ideas to life. However, taking an idea from passion project to production requires much more than just good design or research – especially within larger organizations. To bring about meaningful change, it is essential to also learn how to gain executive support for intrapreneurship, incorporate our UX toolkit into product development, and successfully pitch for funding.

Meet the speaker

Ciara is a Principal UX Designer on the Fidelity Investments Digital Workplace team and a two-time graduate of Bentley University (’17, ‘18). She founded the Unseen Diversity initiative in December 2019 as a side of desk project, before eventually serving as a subject matter expert for the interview accommodations working group.

As a result of the Unseen Diversity work, changes made to Fidelity’s accommodations request process have allowed for more accessible job interviews since May 2021.

How to attend remotely

Anybody registered for the event will receive an email with a link with details on how to join the online meeting. Only individuals registered for the event will be able to join the meeting. You are highly encouraged to register with the email associated with your Eventbrite account; doing so will make your access to the event link easier. When the presenter begins, the meeting will be locked to any new attendees to prevent disruption.

All attendees are encouraged to remain on "mute" during the event, except when called on to ask a question or during open discussion/networking time.
